Living creatures require more than calories to thrive. They need community, sunlight, positive stimuli, nourishment that is created, served and consumed with love and care.
Sure, we can survive on cereal and PB&J, but how truly glorious are meals that are made from living ingredients that were grown, harvested, prepared and served with the utmost care and reverence?
The mindfulness of meals and the experience of breaking bread around a communal dining table are central to our retreats. Dreaming back a few short weeks ago to the nourishment we were fortunate to receive from @sofias_wellness_ at our Oakley horse meditation retreat.




Sumptuous yet oh-so-simple meals where the farm-to-fork ingredients were left to sing in their elements, kissed by the nuanced flavors and singed, seared and roasted to perfection on the open flame.
The symbiosis of spending days within Mother Nature, having our souls fed by her presence and support, and being nourished by the flora and fauna that flourished on her very soil….what a sacred circle.

Here’s how to introduce mindfulness into your everyday mealtime:
🍁Pause with your hands hovering over your meal — to not only send but also to receive energy (of reciprocity, of life, of abundance)
🍁Inhale & take a moment to send gratitude and love to the many people & forces that contributed to the growing, tending, harvesting and delivering of the food to you (from farmers to gardeners, truck drivers and store workers)
🍁Upon your next inhale, imagine sending love & gratitude to the plants & animals that you are about to consume
🍁Take one more breath: send love and gratitude to each & every cell in your body for knowing how to effortlessly & efficiently utilize the nourishment to keep you healthy, strong, robust and thriving.
The miracle of nourishment can be a daily practice we celebrate in each meal we have. It’s about the minute miracles that make up our every day experience, and our soul’s journey inward.
